I know its a little late but if I is messing around with a nokia lumia and it would show anything on the device or allow me to make changes within the registry I changed PortableDeviceType from 2 to 1 and then I could access the device as a mass storage device . ..

if you are getting permission problems and cannot copy file open task manager (Right Click Task bar>Open task manager) and go to processes tab in task manager and end anything to do with zune.This worked for me hope it helps you. :)

Unfortunately, I can't see the files that were saved by various apps. For instance, I have an app that registers the voice, and theh files it saves on the Lumia 800 are no where to be found. :(

works gr8... i had problem with installing zune itself.. i got struck on CHECKING FOR UPDATES".. tried this and able to access.. but my question is, i can see only music, video,images folders in my device... is that all we can access? is there any way to access all the files? like how we get all files/folders when we connect an android device...

in the step 5 when i clicked device parameter then in the right pane the there only showed 1 registrys value named extpropdesc.....
no others regestry values were shown did i made any mistake

Thank you so much for this information. It was very easy to follow. I am currently listening to my music on my LUMIA 800. :-)

Can I ask, how I access my videos on the phone. They are not in the music + video section. Am I suppose to change the format first? (According to my laptop, they are on the NOKIA.)
